super sisters
chapter 1.1
Marianna & Luigina
back“I’m here to rescue you, princess!”
Visibly worn out, but still smiling, the red-dressed girl with the hat reached her hand out to the blonde beauty.
“Hurry up! We have to get out of here! I don't think Mr. Giant Turtle here will continue his nap for long, girl!”
The princess looked up amazed at her savior and wasn’t really sure what to say now.
“But … You … You are …” she stammered and was interrupted by the brown-haired one, who was just moving her cap (which had slipped out of its place earlier) back in its rightful position.
“Yeah, I’m probably not the prince charming you expected, but I’ve gotta be enough for now, ‘kay? I’m the one you’ve employed to fix the blocked pipes in your castle. They were full of some… creepy plants …”
“But why … Why did you come to rescue me?”
“Playing hero is my style. Also, your little mushroom friends asked me to do it... or, more precisely: They whined until my bleeding ears left me no other choice but to say "Yes". You should start looking for better guards!”
The beautiful princess finally took the reaching hand and the girl with the cap helped her get up.
“And now let’s get out of here!” she said and took the blonde with her, out of the dark jail, which was only barely lit by the few torches on its walls. After a long sooted passage they reached a room full of lava. A burnt smell was in the air. A handful platforms made of steel were floating on the incredibly hot liquid. The two girls stopped at the edge of the lava-pool and the princess held tightly onto her savior, when suddenly a ball of fire just barely missed them. A loud roar echoed through the air.
“Don’t you little pests mess around with me!”
The master of this gloomy place, a giant turtle with reddish shaggy hair, sharp claws and spikes on the shell, suddenly stood behind the girls and roared angrily.
"Not on my watch, ladies! You won't escape the almighty king of the Koopas, Bowser!! ROOOAAAAR!!!" He struck out with his big paws and aimed on the fleeing girls, when suddenly the red plumber lifted the princess in her arms and jumped highly over the abyss filled with lava. She landed safely on one of the swimming platforms, but unfortunately the platform began to sink.
“Guahahaha! Too bad for you! As far as I know, humans can’t swim in lava!” Bowser made fun of them but was surprised when he saw how the girl in red jumped fast from one platform to another and finally reached the end of the room.
“You lose, you ugly, fat beast!” she shouted and stuck her tongue out.
The teased enemy roared loudly again and called for his loyal turtle servants, the Koopa Troopas, but none of them came. Bowser looked irritated back and forth until one single Magikoopa on its broom approached and crashed in front of Bowser’s feet.
“I don’t want to disappoint you … your awfulness … but the troops … they’ve all been defeated by… this curly plumber-girl…”
Full of rage, Bowser stomped his feet onto the ground, which started to shake. The turtle in the coat before him was bouncing up and down on it.
“ROOOAAAR! YOU LOSERS!!” While Bowser was shouting, the fleeing two had already left the castle, had ran over the stone bridge, which was all shaky and fragile and placed over a huge lava lake. They reached a lonely green pipe and stopped in front of it.
“Phew! That was close. Ah, ewww! My hair got burned …!” noticed the plumber girl and pulled a single string of her brown short hair. The princess was gazing at her in awe.
“I … I …” she stammered until she took the hands of her opposite and began to shake it with a happy smile on her lips.
“Thank you so much for rescuing me! And I thought I was gonna die … Thanks!!” she said and the saviour was glad to hear this.
“Oh, red-dressed girl … May you introduce yourself?” the princess asked and again she stared astonished at the girl.
“My name’s Marianna. And you are Peach, right?” she answered and Peach nodded.
“So, then I’m going to bring you home. Your little mushroom-headed friends are waiting for you.” Marianna took the princess’ hand, so that nothing could harm her again and together they entered the short, green pipe that led back to their hometown.
Sounds of laughter came out of the princess’ bedroom. The sun was shining in the clear, bright sky and sunrays were reflecting in the castle’s stained glass windows, making them shine and sparkle beautifully. On two peach-pink chairs Marianna and Princess Peach herself were sitting. Still damping tea and cake smelt delicious on a small table between the two girls. The two ate their pieces of cake with pleasure.
“Oh, yeah. Our first meeting was quite funny, wasn’t it?” Peach giggled. Then she stood up and adjusted her crown.
“I’m probably not the prince charming you expected, but I’ve got to be enough for now, huh?” Peach mimicked her friend and then snorted with laughter, so she had to sit down. Marianna had to hold her sides because she was laughing so hard. She couldn’t even finish her piece of cake. After a few minutes the two calmed down and wiped off the tears they’ve shed while chuckling.
“Say, Ma-chan, how’s your sister doing?”
The plumber put the little fork on the empty plate and put them together on the table.
“Ah, Luigina is fine. I think she’s probably doing the same stuff she’s always doing.”
As always Marianna’s little sister had been the one to stay at home. And as always she was the one to take care of the entire household: She was doing the laundry, put it on a line and when it dried, she folded it and put it back to the wardrobes. She was doing the dishes, swept the floor and dusted the furniture. All these things never bothered her; she did her job willingly. Luigina wasn’t as adventurous as her bigger sister… at least, that’s what she kept telling herself. In fact she was longing for the world outside the garden fence and she wanted to experience something exciting. So it did bother her that her sister never took her along on her adventures.
Luigina was taller than her sister, maybe even one whole head and her hair was longer by several inches too. It reached down to her waist but she never had any trouble with it. She loved wearing green clothes and the dresses in the same style as her sisters, with the exception that hers were a little bit darker. She was a plumber as well and at least as good as Marianna.
It was getting late now, already night, and Luigina set up the table. She put two plates on it, one in red and one in green. Then she put two glasses on it, one in red and one in green and finally the silverware. On each plate she gave a dish of long noodles and one dipper full of red pasta sauce. When she finished setting the table, she sat down on her seat by the green plate and glass. It was six o’ clock but Marianna didn’t arrive yet. So Luigina had to wait. And she waited… and waited… and after three long hours her sister opened the door.
“Hello Lu-chan! Oh, have you been waiting long?” asked Marianna when she entered the dining room and sat down on her chair. Luigina waved her hand to her and with a shake of the head she smiled.
“No, no. You know, I’m patient. Buon appetito!” she answered calmly.
Marianna began to eat and suddenly pulled a wry face.
“What’s wrong? Does it taste bad?”
“It tastes delicious, but … Could you please prepare the dinner… you know, warm, just for once? I’m pretty sick of eating cold stuff every evening.”
Luigina first threw her sister an angry glance but shortly after started laughing. She just never could be mad at her for longer than ten seconds.
